How It Works

On in one second. Off just as quick.

Every KLUNK has its own unique combination and twin self-adjusting locks. Two ways to fit, one way to feel confident your vehicle is going nowhere.

First-time setup

Fit the KLUNK studs and tighten to 140 Nm

Replace your existing wheel bolts with the supplied high-tensile KLUNK studs, torqued to 140 Nm. Done once — that's it. Fit and forget.

Push the twin locks home

Push each of the twin locks into the housing with your thumb until they click into place.

KLUNK onto the studs

Push the self-adjusting KLUNK onto your wheel studs until it klunks home — your expensive vehicle is secure in one second flat.

To remove

Turn each lock clockwise in turn until they pop out, then pull the KLUNK clear of the wheel. Slim profile makes storage easy.

Two ways to fit

Click the twin locks in first, then push the KLUNK onto the studs — or push the KLUNK onto the studs first and click the locks into place. Either way, it klunks home in one second.

Double up at the rear

Fit two KLUNK wheel studs to each rear wheel to facilitate any parking configuration — total peace of mind, however you've left it.

4x4 winch & table

The integral winch makes fitting effortless on a Land Rover Defender. A small table and seats can be fitted to the KLUNK in the vertical position for off-road stops.

The Story

55 years in the making

From a wobbly scaffold under Cruddas Park flats to a van workshop in Northumberland — the road to the KLUNK, in Michael's own words.

At 14 years old I became a heating engineer apprentice working on many building sites — new and old. Learning my skill as a welder, designer, plumber and many other things.

One day, working under Cruddas Park flats, hammering huge rawl bolts into the ceiling of the underground tunnels, balancing on a flimsy wobbly scaffold at the age of 15 — arms aching, multiple hammer rash, sub-zero temperatures and a wind chill — was, 55 years later, to inspire me to invent KLUNK.

The first KLUNK outer casing along with a very expensive cardboard box I'd had specially made was stolen from my drive along with my singing and karaoke gear, never to be seen again. I patented it years later after saving money from my gigs. A company from Gateshead wanted to buy it, so I sold part of it to them. Driving across the Tyne Bridge one night after six hours of negotiations, my girlfriend counting fifty grand in tens and twenties. What a feeling. That was 35 years ago.

Being an entertainer for the last 30 plus years, I decided to pick KLUNK up again, as the patent had run out.

Amazingly I was met with great help from people from Newcastle, Birmingham, India and China — leading me to sell my home of forty years, buy a van, convert it into my new home, and buy the parts for KLUNK. It hasn't been easy, but the path to vanlife has given me first-hand knowledge of security on the road for vans, motorhomes and the like. Looking back, I can say I have enjoyed the entire experience.

But here is the result of hard graft and the help from some beautiful people. Rest assured this product is the BEST in the WORLD — and the quickest.

I sold my Shogun that was stolen from my drive with the first prototype KLUNK in it — never to be seen again. I'd made a new one for it. The guy that bought it liked the KLUNK and I told him: do not lose the keys or it will be extremely difficult to remove. Months later — "Hey mate, I've lost the keys, how do I get it off?" You'll have to cut it off with a grinder. It took him ages. I fit mine to my expensive van every day. It only takes a second.
